The State Statistics Service of Ukraine and Microsoft Ukraine have signed a memorandum on the digital transformation of Ukrainian statistics. The first joint projects involving artificial intelligence will appear in the fall of 2025, according to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.

The document provides for the modernization of statistical infrastructure, the creation of unified data platforms, and the use of cloud technologies and artificial intelligence tools.

According to Artem Rudko, deputy head of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, new technologies will help make official statistics simpler and more accessible.

"Today is the time for innovation. Using Microsoft solutions will help modernize the infrastructure and make statistics more convenient, transparent, and understandable for businesses, the state, and citizens," he says.

Artificial intelligence and data transparency

Leonid Polupan, CEO of Microsoft Ukraine, emphasizes that digital tools will strengthen trust in government data.

"Data is the foundation of transparency and trust. A strong statistical system helps businesses navigate, the government make decisions, and society develop," he said.

Yevhen Kahanovskyi, Head of Public Sector Projects at Microsoft Ukraine, adds that the digital transformation of statistics should be fast and user-friendly.

"We want Ukrainian statistics to set trends and be an example of the successful implementation of modern technologies," he emphasizes.

Plans for 2025

The State Statistics Service of Ukraine and Microsoft plan to present their first joint projects involving artificial intelligence in the field of statistics in the fall of 2025.

The partnership is intended to be long-term and contribute to the transformation of Ukrainian statistics into a modern, digital, and understandable system.

In March 2015, Arsen Makarchuk, who previously worked at the National Bank of Ukraine, became head of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine (SSSU). Makarchuk has already announced a number of initiatives to modernize statistics.

In the summer of 2025, the Verkhovna Rada decided to reinstate mandatory statistical reporting for businesses and individual entrepreneurs, which had been suspended during martial law.

A three-month transition period was established for businesses to allow entrepreneurs to prepare. It will end in October 2025.
