As a series of bomb cyclones continues, schools in West Michigan cancel the lessons for the upcoming few days, according to Weather News.

On Tuesday, The National Weather Service (NWS) informed Michigan citizens about a severe winter storm approaching the region. The storm is estimated to continue until Thursday. Consequently, school students are advised to stay at home and a short-term lockdown has been established until Thursday.

Meanwhile, weather experts attempt to define the reasons for such abrupt snow storms. They assume this weather change is triggered by a frigid temperature freezing Great Lake. As a result, it causes lake-effect snow showers that are common in this region. Snowfalls are estimated to fluctuate between moderate precipitation and more severe blizzards that might carry damaging consequences.

Now, a lake-effect snowstorm is expected to continue on Thursday morning and reach its pick in the afternoon. Fortunately, forecasts anticipate the snowfall to decline afterward and fully diminish by Friday morning.

It's not the first natural disaster that hit the US this year. In October, hurricane Milton struck Florida and became the third hurricane in the region in just three months. The estimated damages amounted to tens of billions of dollars, according to US President Joe Biden.
