President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola addressed Ukraine's Parliament, Verkhovna Rada, and announced the opening of a permanent European Parliament office in Kyiv.

According to Metsola, this step will further strengthen cooperation between Ukraine and the EU, as the European Parliament office will operate in the capital daily.

"I am proud of this decision. The voice of the European Parliament will be heard here, in the heart of Kyiv, alongside you, on your path to peace and EU membership," she said.

Metsola also emphasized that the European Union will soon adopt its 19th sanctions package against Russia. It will include a further phase-out of Russian oil and gas and strengthen measures against the so-called “shadow fleet.”
