Meta apps experience a technical glitch: Details
There was a disruption in the operation of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp on Wednesday, December 11. Users in the Russian Federation have reported issues with the apps, according to Downdetector and the Ria Novosti Telegram channel.
In particular, Russian users first began complaining about issues with the WhatsApp app, as they were unable to receive or send messages on all versions of the messenger.
Users have also reported problems with Facebook, Instagram, and Threads.
Meanwhile, according to Downdetector, over 96,000 complaints have been recorded in the US regarding Facebook, and 69,000 regarding Instagram. The reasons for the disruption are still unknown.
Massive cyberattack by Ukrainian intelligence
In July, Ukrainian intelligence carried out a massive cyberattack on Russia's financial sector. At that time, the services of major Russian banks were affected.
Providers, national payment systems, social networks, messengers, government resources, and dozens of other services were also targeted.
It was also reported that Russians experienced issues withdrawing cash from ATMs.
