Merz says Germany can’t live in peace anymore

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz believes that peace in Germany can no longer be spoken of, according to Handelsblatt.
The German official explained that due to the growing number of hybrid attacks on critical infrastructure and networks, the country no longer lives under peaceful conditions.
“We are not at war, but we are not living in peace either,” Merz told entrepreneurs at the Schwarz Ecosystem Summit in Berlin.
The Chancellor did not name those responsible but listed a range of hostile actions that concerned him.
“Drone flyovers, espionage, the murder in Tiergarten (of a Chechen activist by a Russian Main Intelligence Directorate operative — ed.), mass threats against certain public figures not only in Germany but also in many other European countries. Daily acts of sabotage. Attempts to paralyze data processing centers. Cyberattacks,” Merz said.
He also added that the problem has affected not only state institutions but also businesses.
“I suspect that probably every second person in this room has at some point faced attacks on their data transmission networks and infrastructure,” the German Chancellor added.
Unknown drones in Germany and beyond
After the drone incident in Denmark, unidentified drones were spotted in northern Germany - over Schleswig-Holstein. Because of this, local police tightened drone security measures.
In addition, in recent days, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius stated that two Russian satellites are actively shadowing German ones, creating a potential threat to their operation.
