Berlin will host a summit of the Coalition of the Willing in the coming weeks. Participants plan to coordinate assistance for Ukraine, security guarantees in the case of a ceasefire, and further diplomatic steps, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said at a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Berlin.
"In the coming weeks, we will hold a summit of the Coalition of the Willing in Berlin together with France and the UK," Merz said.
According to Merz, the upcoming meeting will focus on three main tracks.
The first will address continued support for Ukraine. Partners are expected to determine how future aid will be coordinated.
The second issue will be security guarantees in the event of a ceasefire.
"We will reaffirm our readiness to provide Ukraine with security guarantees after a ceasefire," the German chancellor said.
Merz said that the Coalition of the Willing had planned military exercises in Poland. They are expected to begin in the coming days.
"They will be an important part of a peaceful settlement," he stressed.
The third track of the summit focuses on coordinating diplomatic efforts. European partners plan to continue aligning their actions to help end the war.
"Our message to Russia is clear: it is time to end this war," Merz concluded.
Earlier today, November 3, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Berlin on a working visit.
He traveled to Germany with a Ukrainian delegation for meetings with Chancellor Friedrich Merz, the German president, and the president of the Bundestag. The Ukrainian leader is also scheduled to attend the Berlin Security Conference.
