“I'm working on it, and we are in the process. I hope we have success very soon,” Melania Trump said.
The First Lady of the United States did not disclose details about the negotiations between her representatives and Putin's team.
One of her representatives noted that communication channels continue after Melania Trump wrote a letter to Putin about the abducted Ukrainian children, which was personally delivered to him by US President Donald Trump in August 2025. Since then, 15 children have been returned to Ukraine.
Return of Ukrainian children
In July last year, US First Lady Melania Trump wrote a letter to Russian president Vladimir Putin. She called for the protection of Ukrainian children who had been deported to Russia.
Melania Trump received a reply from Putin to her letter. Since then, they have had an open channel of communication.
Moscow provided the US First Lady with information about Ukrainian children who had already been returned.
In December, with the assistance of Melania Trump, seven Ukrainian children were returned from Russia.
