Melania Trump sends letter to Putin asking him to protect Ukrainian children

Melania Trump delivered a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin through her husband, Donald Trump. She urged Putin to protect children, according to the text of the letter published by Fox News.
In her letter to Vladimir Putin, US First Lady Melania Trump wrote that all children in the world, regardless of where they are born, dream of love, opportunities, and safety.
“As parents, it is our duty to nurture the next generation’s hope. As leaders, the responsibility to sustain our children extends beyond the comfort of a few,” the letter states.
In the letter, Melania Trump wrote that in today’s world, some children are forced to hide their quiet laughter despite the darkness surrounding them.
“Mr. Putin, you can singlehandedly restore their melodic laughter. In protecting the innocence of these children, you will do more than serve Russia alone—you serve humanity itself. Such a bold idea transcends all human division, and you, Mr. Putin, are fit to implement this vision with a stroke of the pen today. It is time,” wrote Donald Trump’s wife.
According to Reuters, the existence of the letter was previously unknown, and its contents had not been disclosed. It has now emerged that it addressed the abduction of Ukrainian children.
Deportation of children from Ukraine to Russia
The deportation of Ukrainian children following the start of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine became the basis for the International Criminal Court in The Hague to issue arrest warrants for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russia’s Commissioner for Children’s Rights, Maria Lvova-Belova.
Since February 2022, Russian forces have taken more than 19,500 children from Ukraine. More than a thousand of them have been returned.
