The successful rescue of residents of occupied Oleshky gives hope for the end of the war between Ukraine and Russia, states US First Lady Melania Trump.
Melania Trump expressed hope that the humanitarian mission in Oleshky in the Kherson region would become a starting point on the path to a lasting peace between Ukraine and Russia.
"A renewed spirit. The ceasefire across Oleshky and the surrounding Kherson region has provided residents with the freedom to move, access to food, clean water, medicine, plus a renewed sense of dignity without the constant threat of attack. Let Oleshky become the starting point for lasting peace," wrote the US First Lady.
On October 31, Melania publicly reacted for the first time to the completion of the evacuation of Oleshky residents, which she had facilitated throughout the process.
"Hope for sustainable peace. Oleshky proves we can raise humanity above war," wrote the wife of the US President.
Rescue of Oleshky residents
On October 27, near the temporarily occupied city of Oleshky in the Kherson region, Ukraine and Russia agreed to a ceasefire to conduct a humanitarian mission. The silence regime is to remain in effect until 11:59 PM on November 1.
Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets reported that the first 30 hours of the ceasefire in Oleshky passed without any violations.
Later, information emerged about an agreement between Kyiv and Moscow to provide monthly assistance to the residents of the Kherson region following the completion of the humanitarian mission in Oleshky.
On October 31, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that the residents evacuated from Oleshky had crossed the state border of Ukraine in the Chernihiv region.
On the same day, Russia stated that it had reached an agreement with Ukraine on regular humanitarian missions.
