The ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia in Oleshky came into effect on Tuesday, October 27. The silence regime was expanded beyond the city limits to ensure the safety of humanitarian convoys, according to a statement by US First Lady Melania Trump.
She noted that the ceasefire timelines were accelerated to ensure civilian safety and facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid.
"The ceasefire’s geographic area has expanded beyond Oleshky, within the Kherson Region, to provide safe passage for the humanitarian convoys," Melania Trump stated.
Davyd Arakhamia, head of the Servant of the People faction, stated that the silence regime in southern Ukraine began today at 3:00 AM Kyiv time and will last until November 1.
Dmitry Peskov, spokesperson for the Russian president, stated the possibility of extending the US First Lady’s peacekeeping initiatives to other combat zones.
Furthermore, the Financial Times reported that residents of Oleshky will first be transported to Russia or the temporarily occupied Crimea. Afterward, they will be able to return to Ukrainian-controlled territory.
