On the night of June 29, Russian troops carried out a massive strike on the city of Smila in the Cherkasy region. As a result of the attack, at least six people were injured, among them a child, according to the head of the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, Ihor Taburets, and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES).

According to preliminary data, the strike caused significant damage to civilian infrastructure.

Three nine-story residential buildings were damaged, as well as the building of the college of the National University of Food Technologies.

What's known about the consequences

At the impact site, two fires broke out, which were promptly extinguished by rescuers. In total, 70 residents were evacuated.

One of the injured men was trapped in an elevator shaft—SES workers freed him.

Currently, 81 rescuers and 30 units of equipment are working at the scene. The operational headquarters is ensuring the coordination of actions. Inspection of the damaged facilities continues.

Attack on Ukraine

On the night of June 29, Russia launched a record number of targets on Ukraine—537. Air defense forces shot down most of them, but there were also hits.

In total, air defense forces neutralized 475 targets (249 were shot down, 226 were lost location-wise).

The Russian Federation attacked a number of regions of Ukraine, including the western regions. Thus, in the Lviv region, the enemy targeted critical infrastructure; in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, there is an injured person.

Additionally, the Russian army has launched attacks on Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia, and the Poltava region.

The head of the Poltava RMA, Volodymyr Kohut, reported that as a result of the enemy's combined attack in the Kremenchuk district, one of the enterprises was attacked, and a fire occurred.

It is known that during the repulsion of today's enemy attack, an experienced F-16 pilot, Maksym Ustymenko, was killed.
