A loud explosion was heard today, June 11, in the Russian city of Engels. A large column of smoke was seen rising into the sky above the city, ASTRA Telegram channel reports.
According to the channel, there is no official information yet on the cause of the explosion.
However, local residents speculate that it may have occurred at the 9th Central Automobile Repair Plant, which is located less than two kilometers from the Kristall oil depot, where a fire is currently ongoing.
Unofficial reports also suggest that the explosion could have occurred at the RusKon-S facility, which manufactures pipeline valves. That plant is located about five kilometers from the Kristall depot.
