Situation near Perevalne
Eyewitnesses on social media also reported hearing explosions and the distinct buzzing of drones in the occupied area of Perevalne during the night. This location hosts Russia’s 126th Separate Coastal Defense Brigade of the Black Sea Fleet and the 8th Artillery Regiment. On May 16, Ukrainian forces previously struck ammunition depots in this area.
Russian forces have been trying to protect their aircraft from Ukrainian strikes by constructing shelters. Such structures have already been spotted at 14 airbases, including in Crimea.
Additionally, Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) recently carried out a historic operation called Spiderweb, which had been in preparation for over a year and a half.
As part of this meticulously planned operation, drones struck four Russian airfields, damaging 41 aircraft from Russia’s strategic aviation fleet, including A-50, Tu-95, Tu-22M3, and Tu-160 models, roughly one-third of Russia’s strategic cruise missile carriers.
