Makhachkala airport incident results in over 20 people injured
Due to unrest at the Makhachkala airport, where a crowd of Dagestan residents stormed in following a flight from Israel, more than 20 people were injured, according to the Ministry of Health of Dagestan.
"Medical professionals in the republican hospitals are currently treating 10 of those injured in the incident at the Makhachkala airport," according to the Ministry of Health's statement.
It is reported that there are individuals of varying degrees of severity among the injured, including both law enforcement and civilians. Two people are in extremely critical condition.
Over 10 individuals with minor injuries have sought outpatient medical assistance.
Situation in Makhachkala
On the evening of October 29, an enraged crowd of Dagestan residents stormed the Makhachkala airport. They were searching for Jews who were supposedly arriving on a flight from Israel.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the events in Makhachkala are part of the Russian widespread culture of hatred towards other nations.
The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jerusalem called on the Russian authorities to protect Israelis and Jews within their jurisdiction.
