What is a magnetic storm?

Every day, solar flares and explosions occur in the Sun, releasing a large number of charged particles into space. These particles can travel quickly in different directions, including toward Earth.

When they reach the Earth's magnetosphere, a disturbance occurs, known as a magnetic storm.

Storms are classified by intensity and impact on human life. Strong magnetic storms can cause deterioration of well-being and affect the operation of electronics and communication systems.

Weather-sensitive people, pregnant women, the elderly, children, and people with chronic illnesses are affected by such changes.

How magnetic storms affect people

According to many studies, weak magnetic storms are almost unnoticeable to people. Stronger ones affect biorhythms and cause many different symptoms, such as:

  • Headaches, migraines
  • Dizziness, a feeling of pressure in the head
  • Nausea
  • Fatigue
  • Drowsiness during the day, insomnia at night
  • Increased irritability and anxiety
  • Decreased concentration
  • Apathy, depressive states
  • Aggression
  • Blood pressure fluctuations
  • Heart rhythm disorders
  • Worsening of chronic illnesses

What helps protect the body

According to doctors, it is impossible to completely avoid the effects of a magnetic storm, but there are effective methods that can improve overall well-being.

Get enough sleep. Go to bed and wake up at the same time, and sleep 7–9 hours minimum.

Don't forget about water. Drink enough clean water, as dehydration causes poor well-being and headaches.

Eat a balanced diet. More vegetables, fruits, and nutritious meals. Avoid alcohol and heavy and unhealthy foods.

Minimize stress. Don't argue, don't get into conflicts, and control stress levels. Don't overburden yourself emotionally.

Fresh air. Ventilate rooms several times a day, and go for walks during the day and before bedtime.

Be careful with drinks. Don't drink too much coffee or energy drinks.

Limit screen time. Especially in the evening, a few hours before bedtime.

People with chronic illnesses are advised to rest more and keep their medications close. If your health worsens or causes concern, seek medical help.
