Macron: We'll increase pressure on Kremlin within days

France plans to increase pressure on Russia in the coming days. Sanctions from the United States are also possible, stated French President Emmanuel Macron, Le Figaro reports.
According to Macron, when it comes to ending Russia’s war against Ukraine, "caution must be maintained," as "part of the equation" depends on Moscow.
"We must remain united and maintain the deterrence factor," the French President added.
Macron expressed hope that a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia could eventually be achieved.
"In the next eight to ten days, we will increase pressure on the Kremlin. Pressure cannot be exerted only on Ukraine," he said, without disclosing the details of his plans.
Macron also said he had convinced the US of the possibility of escalating threats and, potentially, introducing new sanctions against Moscow.
"We have consistently worked to create a dynamic in which President Zelenskyy would agree to an unconditional ceasefire, which, by the way, he did in Jeddah. We also worked to ensure that the US would push Russia to agree to a ceasefire. Now, our joint task is to build the conditions for a strong and lasting peace," Macron noted.
Ukraine-Russia ceasefire
Russia continues to refuse a full 30-day ceasefire with Ukraine without additional conditions.
Just yesterday, on April 27, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Russia would agree to a ceasefire only under two specific conditions.
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin today announced a ceasefire from May 8 to May 10. More on this can be found in the material by RBC-Ukraine.
