Macron urges Europe not to miss AI revolution

The development of artificial intelligence (AI) will determine the future independence of nations. Europe must act faster to avoid losing its position in global competition, stated French President Emmanuel Macron, according to Le Parisien.
Macron urged Europe not to miss the artificial intelligence revolution, warning that it risks losing control and its independence.
"Now is the time to accelerate, because the development of AI is a battle for independence," the President emphasized.
He opposed reducing the AI competition to just a battle between the US and China.
"If Europe tackles this issue, simplifies, and accelerates its resolution, it will have trump cards to play. We need more economic and European patriotism. We need to enter the market and buy French and European AI, wherever it appears," he stressed.
The French leader also intends to make his country "a leader in Europe in terms of artificial intelligence." Macron promised to increase the number of trained AI specialists from 40,000 to 100,000 by 2030.
"When the world is accelerating, you can't afford to slow down," he added.
It should be noted that the AI Action Summit will take place in Paris on February 10-11. US Vice President J.D. Vance is already confirmed to attend.
Meanwhile, France, Germany, and Italy have reached an agreement on how artificial intelligence should be regulated, which is expected to accelerate negotiations at the European Union level.
