French President Emmanuel Macron has confirmed Ukraine's readiness for an unconditional ceasefire and cooperation to achieve peace. Now, it’s Russia’s turn.

"A very positive exchange today with President Zelenskyy in Rome. Ending the war in Ukraine. That is the goal we share with President Trump," said the President of France.

Macron emphasized that Ukraine is ready for an unconditional ceasefire.

"President Zelenskyy reiterated this to me today. He wants to work alongside both Americans and Europeans to implement it," said the French leader.

At the same time, he noted that the next move is up to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"Now, it’s up to President Putin to prove that he truly wants peace," Macron said.

The President of France emphasized that he will continue working through the Coalition of the Willing, which was launched in Paris in March, to achieve both a ceasefire and a full, lasting peace in Ukraine.

Zelenskyy in the Vatican

Today, the Ukrainian president arrived in the Vatican for the funeral of Pope Francis. Currently, leaders from many other countries are present in Italy as well.

During his visit, the Ukrainian leader has already met with at least two presidents. In addition to Macron, he also spoke with US President Donald Trump. After the meeting with the US President, Zelenskyy described it as "very symbolic."

Furthermore, it is known that Zelenskyy has already met with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. For more details, read RBC-Ukraine's report.
