Talks in Paris
A meeting with Ukraine’s partners opened today in Paris, focusing on future security guarantees for Kyiv in the event of an end to the war with Russia. Key issues include aligning a common position among Ukraine, Europe, and the United States, as well as the possible deployment of foreign troops after a ceasefire.
Speaking at a joint press conference with leaders of the Coalition of the Willing following the Paris summit, Macron announced the creation of a coordination group to ensure rapid interaction among coalition countries, the United States, and Ukraine.
Meanwhile, the Financial Times, citing sources, reported that during the Paris talks, Ukraine and the United States agreed on several steps within the Coalition of the Willing framework to implement and ensure a ceasefire. It remains unclear whether Russia would agree to the discussed terms.
On Wednesday, January 7, talks in Paris will continue between Ukraine and representatives of the United States and the European Union.
Sources told RBC-Ukraine that the following members of Ukraine’s delegation will remain in Paris: Kyrylo Budanov, Davyd Arakhamia, Rustem Umerov, Serhii Kyslytsia, Oleksandr Bevz, and Andrii Hnatov. The rest of the Ukrainian delegation, led by the president, will depart for Cyprus.
