France's President Emmanuel Macron said the US plan for establishing peace in Ukraine is a good initiative, but added that the document needs to be revised, Sky News reports.

"All initiatives going towards peace are good, but we need something which is good for Ukrainians," Macron said.

He noted that the US peace plan contains well-known facts, whether people agree with them or not. According to Macron, the document could serve as a foundation for achieving peace, but it requires review.

"It's good in that it proposes peace and recognises important elements on issues of sovereignty, security guarantees. But it's a basis for work that needs to be revisited, as we did last summer, because this plan, first of all, wasn't negotiated with the Europeans," Macron explained to journalists.

Shortly after, Macron wrote on social media that the plan needs to be "strengthened." He noted that many parts involve European countries and NATO, so these parties must be included in the process.

US peace plan

Recently, the US presented Ukraine with a new 28-point peace plan, which includes several highly controversial elements. Under the proposal, Ukraine would need to withdraw from Donbas, reduce the size of its armed forces, give up long-range weapons, and make other concessions. In return, the country would receive security guarantees similar to NATO protection.

The European Council said today that the US plan could serve as a basis for peace but requires significant revisions. Media reports indicate that Europe intends to amend at least four points, including issues related to territory, the size of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, security guarantees, and Trump's proposals regarding frozen Russian assets.

Additionally, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov announced that Ukraine and the US will hold consultations in Geneva in the coming days on a future agreement with Russia. Media outlets reported that tomorrow, representatives from the US, Ukraine, and National Security Advisors from France, the UK, and Germany are scheduled to hold talks.

Journalists also asked Trump today whether his proposal to Ukraine is final; he responded, "No, not my final offer." Axios previously reported that the US is prepared to make adjustments to its plan.
