French President Emmanuel Macron met with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Representative of the US President Steve Witkoff. They plan to discuss the situation in Ukraine, according to Sky News and The Guardian.

Macron welcomed Rubio and Witkoff, who are on a visit to Paris, at the Élysée Palace. French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot was also present at the meeting.

According to reports, Macron, Rubio, and Witkoff are scheduled to hold talks on Ukraine today. The meeting follows negotiations between the Ukrainian delegation and representatives of the Coalition of the Willing.

Media outlets note that before the meeting with top US officials, Macron spoke by phone with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Trump's officials in Paris

Secretary of State Marco Rubio and US Special Envoy to the Middle East and Ukraine war negotiator, Steve Witkoff, arrived in Paris on April 16. Their visit is set to last until April 18.

As previously stated by the US State Department, the purpose of the visit is to hold talks with European partners regarding Ukraine, as well as American interests.

Last week, Witkoff was in Russia, where he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Ukraine holds talks in France

Today, a Ukrainian delegation arrived in Paris, including Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, and Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.

Ukrainian representatives have already held talks with members of the Coalition of the Willing - representatives from France, the United Kingdom, and Germany. The main topics of the meeting were a potential ceasefire and security guarantees.

The Ukrainian delegation is also expected to meet with senior officials from Donald Trump’s administration.
