Lukashenko asserts high-degree alert of Belarusian and Russian forces due to Ukrainian Armed Forces activation
Due to the alleged activation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the border, the Air Force and Air Defense Forces of Belarus and Russia have been put on "full alert", according to the self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.
According to Lukashenko, the Polonez and Iskander missile systems have been deployed on-station.
He added that "we must in no way allow any escalation or aggravation."
"I want the Ukrainian leadership to hear this. The concentration of armed forces, even if insignificant, is very dangerous during combat operations. We have analyzed the situation. We understand perfectly well that we do not need any escalation. We have always talked about this. Ukrainians understand that we will respond," Lukashenko said.
At the same time, he stated that in case of a threat from Ukraine, "the response will be tough and decisive."
"I would ask Ukrainians not to play with fire. It is very dangerous," the Belarusian President said.
The situation on the border with Belarus
On Saturday, June 29, the Ministry of Defense of Belarus said that "tension" was increasing on the border with Ukraine. Ukraine is deploying troops to the border, mining the area, and building engineering barriers.
The Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine said that Minsk is deliberately escalating the situation, while the real threat comes from Belarus.
At the same time, the State Border Guard Service noted that Ukraine will continue to enhance its defense capabilities near the border with Belarus, despite Minsk's attacks.
