Lithuanian president arrives in Kyiv on unannounced visit
President of Lithuania Gitanas Nauseda arrived in Kyiv today, on June 28. He will meet with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, as the press service of the Lithuanian leader reports.
During the meeting with Zelenskyy, Nauseda will discuss the agenda of the NATO summit in Vilnius, which will take place on July 11-12. The leaders will also focus on the negotiations regarding Ukraine's accession to the EU, as well as the assistance of Lithuania and the European Union.
The Lithuanian leader will also participate in celebrating events dedicated to the 27th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of Ukraine.
The president arrived in Kyiv from the Hague, where NATO allies discussed support for Ukraine yesterday. From Kyiv, Nauseda will go to Brussels, where the European Council meeting is taking place tomorrow.
Lithuania's aid to Ukraine
The Baltic countries - Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia - have been supporting Ukraine from the early days of the full-scale war. They have provided military, financial, and humanitarian aid, as well as hosting tens of thousands of refugees from Ukraine.
Today, it was also announced that Lithuania has acquired two NASAMS launcher systems for Ukraine, they will help to strengthen Ukraine's air defense.
