Lithuanian army to procure military trucks, some for transfer to Ukraine
Lithuania, as part of its army modernization, will purchase military trucks Renault D. Part of them will go to Ukraine, according to the Ministry of National Defense of Lithuania.
It is noted that the Defense Resources Agency at the Ministry of National Defense is purchasing trucks from the French manufacturer Renault Truck SAS.
The acquired Renault D trucks will be used for the supply and training of the Lithuanian army. Part of the purchased equipment will be transferred to Ukraine as one of the components of the coalition led by Lithuania for demining.
Renault D
Renault D is a 5-ton all-wheel-drive truck with high ground clearance designed for transporting various cargoes and equipment. The contract value for the purchase of trucks is approximately $16 million.
Lithuania's assistance
The Baltic countries - Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia - have been supporting Ukraine from the first days of the full-scale war. The Baltic countries have provided military, financial, and humanitarian assistance, and have also accepted tens of thousands of refugees from Ukraine.
It should be recalled that Lithuania has purchased two NASAMS air defense missile launchers for Ukraine, which will help strengthen Ukraine's air defense. In November, Lithuania announced the transfer of NASAMS missile launchers, necessary equipment, and off-road vehicles to Ukraine.
