The Lithuanian Ministry of Defense is seeking to construct a military training ground jointly with Latvia, according to the Lithuanian Defense Minister Laurynas Kasčiūnas.

"I plan to discuss with my Latvian counterpart the possibility of establishing a joint training ground. I intend to visit Latvia, providing an opportunity to discuss common decisions in this direction. Of course, I understand that finding a location for a training ground in an election year is a challenging task. These matters should have been addressed earlier," he said.

Kasčiūnas emphasized the significant need for a new training ground due to the increasing number of allies, including the arrival of Germans, stating, "We need to consider the possibility of training our forces."

"The new training ground is necessary for maneuvering, which significantly simplifies its use. In other words, it will not be a firing range but rather a maneuvering ground. This makes decisions easier," he said.

NATO exercises and defense against Russian aggression

It was previously reported that military exercises involving NATO countries and the United States took place in Georgia at the beginning of March.

Additionally, NATO is commencing large-scale exercises near the borders of Russia.

In January, Bild published a scenario of military exercises in Germany, during which the German armed forces prepared for a hybrid attack by Russia on the eastern flank of NATO.

Furthermore, NATO's Military Committee Chairman Admiral Rob Bauer previously stated that the alliance requires transformation, and the West must prepare for an era where anything can happen at any time, including the outbreak of war.

French President Emmanuel Macron has also warned of the risk of aggression from Russia in the coming years, stating that European leaders must be prepared for such a scenario.
