Lithuania funds schools, kindergartens reconstruction in Ukraine
Lithuania allocated 5 million euros for the reconstruction of schools and kindergartens in Ukraine, says Lithuanian Ministry of Finance Gintarė Skaistė.
Gintarė Skaistė met with the Minister of Finance of Ukraine, Serhii Marchenko, and the Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine, Andrii Pyshnyy, in Kyiv.
During the visit, which placed significant emphasis on the reconstruction of Ukraine and Lithuania's investments in the country, the minister announced that Lithuania is allocating 5 million euros for the reconstruction of schools and kindergartens in Ukraine.
Skaistė believes that, since the support for Ukraine from the US has stalled, the EU cannot delay and must, on its part, provide military and financial assistance to the country fighting against the cruelty of Russia.
During the visit, the minister also visited a kindergarten in Irpin, Kyiv region, which was restored with Lithuanian funds and equipped with shelters meeting safety requirements.
Lithuanian aid
It is worth noting that the Baltic countries - Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia - have been supporting Ukraine from the early days of the full-scale war. The Baltic nations have provided military, financial, and humanitarian aid, and have also welcomed tens of thousands of refugees from Ukraine.
Lithuania has acquired two NASAMS air defense system launchers for Ukraine, bolstering our country's air defense capabilities. In November, Lithuania announced the transfer of NASAMS launchers, essential equipment, and off-road vehicles to Ukraine's forces.
In late February, it was revealed that Lithuania had raised over 8 million euros for the purchase of military equipment to support Ukrainian defenders.
