Lenovo creates world's first laptop with unique screen
First introduced in 2023, the concept of a Lenovo laptop with an unusual foldable display is reportedly set for production and will be showcased at CES 2025 next month, reports the independent online edition Android Authority, which covers the world of Android and technology.
What is known about the upcoming laptop
Evan Blass has published an image of the sixth-generation Lenovo ThinkBook Plus laptop, which could become the world’s first laptop with a retractable screen. The display extends upwards rather than sideways.
The vertically expanding screen may be useful for several reasons. It’s ideal for reading documents and web pages, reducing the need for scrolling.
The images also show that the large screen can run two large app windows simultaneously, making it a worthy alternative to connecting an external monitor in some situations. Finally, certain games, such as arcade shooters, could benefit from the taller screen.
However, durability is a concern, as the retractable screen has more moving parts compared to a traditional display. Moreover, the screen is likely to be made of plastic rather than glass, making it more prone to scratches.
Blass suggests that the new Lenovo ThinkBook Plus could be unveiled at CES 2025 early next month. So, you may not have to wait long to see the device. However, considering the experience with laptops featuring flexible screens, this device is unlikely to be inexpensive.
Additionally, Lenovo could outpace the smartphone industry in releasing devices with retractable screens, as there are currently no commercially available phones with such displays.
