NABU detective leak: Expert warns of possible consequences

By leaking classified internal information of NABU (National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine), its former detective Denysyuk exposed a deep crisis prevailing in the Bureau today, calling into question the entire state’s anti-corruption system, stated political expert Oleg Posternak.
"The case with Denysyuk is a striking example of how a single individual, through personal unprofessionalism, managed to expose the chaos, disorder, and lawlessness within an institution that was supposed to be a model of Ukrainian anti-corruption efforts. However, it never became one—and it is unlikely that it ever will. Yet another scandal involving the Bureau points to a more systemic crisis that casts doubt on the entire anti-corruption system of the state. As a result, donor states supporting Ukraine are beginning to ask reasonable questions: where is their money being spent, and can Ukrainian anti-corruption institutions be trusted at all?" wrote Posternak.
He recalled that a few days ago, detective Denysyuk publicly accused NABU of "leaking" investigations related to drone procurement.
"The detective publicly disclosed internal information, thereby completely discrediting the Bureau. According to representatives of the legal community, such an act by the detective is an attempt to conceal NABU’s incompetence and its lack of effective corruption investigations in the security and defense sector, as well as in many other areas within its jurisdiction," the expert stated.
According to him, irreversible processes within NABU were triggered, among other things, by Donald Trump’s victory in the US election.
"The team of the new American leader remembers well the statements made by Ukrainian MPs, in which they alleged that former NABU director Mr. Sytnyk interfered in the 2016 US presidential election in favor of Trump’s opponent, Hillary Clinton. The entire time that Biden was in power, NABU was sustained solely by America's goodwill," he claimed.
As for Denysyuk himself, the expert believes he has started playing politics.
As reported earlier, former NABU detective Andrii Denysyuk sent a letter to his colleagues, stating that the reason for his resignation was the "leak" of investigations related to drone procurement.
Previously, the State Bureau of Investigations registered a criminal case against NABU Director Semen Kryvonos and his deputy Polina Lysenko over alleged fraud in the selection process for managerial positions within one of the Bureau’s departments.
