Lavrov's Office complains that US canceled a new round of talks with Russia

The United States has allegedly canceled planned talks with Russia. The purpose of the dialogue was to "eliminate irritants in bilateral relations," states Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova, according to TASS.
"As of today, the next meeting within the framework of bilateral consultations aimed at eliminating 'irritants' to normalize the functioning of the diplomatic missions of both countries has been canceled at the initiative of the American negotiators," she said.
Zakharova expressed hope that "the pause taken will not last too long."
Russia–US talks
The American and Russian delegations have held several rounds of negotiations.
The dialogue took place in two formats. One focused on ending Russia’s war against Ukraine, while the other addressed bilateral relations between the two countries.
The most recent round of talks took place on April 10 in Istanbul. At that time, the parties focused exclusively on the functioning of the two countries' embassies.
The issue of Russia’s war against Ukraine was not raised during that meeting.
