Latvia to transfer another batch of confiscated vehicles from drunk drivers to Ukraine
The Latvian government today, November 21, made a decision to transfer eight more vehicles confiscated from drunk drivers to Ukraine, according to Delfi.
The vehicles are intended for the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, specifically for army units, a military unit of the National Guard, the Special Operations Center, and the Matiivka village council.
The total preliminary market value of the eight vehicles being transferred to Ukraine is 37,850 euros.
The vehicles to be transferred to Ukraine include:
- Kia Sportage;
- Toyota RAV4 (two units);
- Volvo XC70;
- Toyota Avensis;
- Volvo XC90;
- Volkswagen Touareg;
- Honda Legend.
According to the law on supporting peaceful residents of Ukraine, state-owned vehicles can be transferred free of charge to the ownership of the government of Ukraine to prevent the consequences of the emergency situation related to military actions in Ukraine and to support Ukrainian society.
Transfer of vehicles from Latvia due to drunk drivers
The first eight vehicles confiscated from drunk drivers were already transferred to Ukraine in March - less than a month after the decision was made.
It was previously reported that Latvia had transferred another batch of 38 vehicles to Ukraine, also confiscated from drunk drivers.
