Latvia to send 42 Patria armored vehicles to Ukraine

Ukraine will receive 42 Patria armored personnel carriers from Latvia. The deliveries have been approved by the Latvian government, according to the press service of the Latvian Ministry of Defense.
According to the Ministry of Defense, in addition to the Patria armored personnel carriers, Ukraine will also receive other military equipment from Latvia.
"In the near future, we will deliver the first of 42 Patria armored vehicles manufactured in Latvia to Ukraine. I am confident that our Patria APCs will support the Armed Forces of Ukraine in their fight against the aggressor," said Latvian Defense Minister Andris Sprūds.
He added that this year and next, Latvia will provide military aid to Ukraine amounting to 0.25% of its gross domestic product (GDP).
The ministry also noted that the delivery of these armored personnel carriers to Ukraine will not affect the needs or operational capabilities of Latvia's National Armed Forces.
Patria 6x6
The Patria 6x6 is a modern wheeled armored vehicle developed by the Finnish company Patria. It has gained a reputation for being reliable, mobile, and easy to operate.
Thanks to its modular design, the Patria 6x6 can perform a wide range of tasks — from troop transport to serving as a command post or mortar carrier. In its standard configuration, it is protected against small arms fire and mines, but it can be upgraded to a higher level of protection if needed.
Since 2024, the Patria 6x6 has also been produced in Latvia at a newly built factory in the city of Valmiera. The project is being implemented in cooperation with Finland, and the first batch has already been delivered to the Latvian army.
Notably, back on February 10 of this year, the Latvian Ministry of Defense announced that it had ordered Patria 6x6 armored vehicles for delivery to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
