Five ballistic missiles
"The enemy targeted the only functioning equipment left — the systems supplying heat to residents. They struck during the coldest night, and as of today, the plant is almost completely destroyed," Kuleba said.

He added that the situation was worsened because the Russian army used ballistic missiles with shrapnel, damaging many heat pipelines.
Since the start of the heating season, more than 20 missiles have hit the Darnytska thermal power plant.
Restoration efforts
"Repair work began immediately after the all-clear. First, the State Emergency Service entered the site, and now an emergency repair crew is working here," Kuleba noted.
Repair teams are doing everything possible to restore at least some heat for Kyiv residents. The plant serves parts of the Dniprovskyi and Darnytskyi districts of the capital.
"We have two days to assess when and to what extent we can restore the station. Only then can we make forecasts for resuming heat supply. Right now, it’s difficult," he added.
Attack on Darnytska TPP
This strike is part of a new wave of Russian attacks on Ukraine in the early hours of February 3.
The attack damaged Darnytska TPP, cutting heat for many Kyiv residents at -25°C (-13°F).
