Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said that Kyiv’s services are prepared for any attacks and have sufficient personnel and resources to respond, Klymenko made the statement during the 4th International Summit of Cities and Regions Partnership. Resilience. Readiness.

"Whatever happens, we will be able to properly allocate forces and resources. In Kyiv, there are enough of them," the Interior Minister emphasized.

Klymenko recalled that during the massive attack on Kyiv on the night of May 24, rescuers and police were already working within tens of minutes, first of all focusing on freeing people trapped under the rubble.

"We carried out all measures so that all strike sites and fire locations — there were about 30 of them — were addressed. We coped with this task. Accordingly, the State Emergency Service, together with the police, were the first to begin evacuating citizens and helping them leave their homes," the minister noted.

Russian threats

On May 25, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova claimed that strikes on Kyiv were allegedly a "response" and that Russia would continue them.

Later, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, during a phone call with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, threatened new attacks on the Ukrainian capital and called for diplomatic personnel to be evacuated.

Head of the Center for Countering Disinformation Andriy Kovalenko described such statements as an open announcement of terror against civilians. Meanwhile, EU Ambassador to Ukraine Katarina Mathernova stressed that diplomats and foreigners do not plan to leave Kyiv despite Russian threats.

At the same time, ISW analysts noted that such Kremlin rhetoric is not linked to Ukraine’s actions, but rather to the failures of the Russian leadership.
