According to the RBC-Ukraine correspondent, in Kyiv, the emblem of the Soviet Union is set to be removed from the "Motherland" monument on August 1. It will be replaced with the Ukrainian trident symbol.

On Tuesday, August 1 demolition continues in Kyiv as the Soviet emblem on the country's main Motherland monument is removed. Work was postponed several times due to strong winds.

The Soviet Union's emblem is being replaced with the Ukrainian trident. The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy announced that the process will be completed by Independence Day, August 24. The project cost is 28 million hryvnias.

Decommunization of the monument

Last year, the "Diia" app conducted a survey on whether the Soviet emblem on the Motherland shield should be replaced with the trident. 85% of 800,000 Ukrainians supported the decommunization.

Earlier, the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy stated their intention to replace the Soviet emblem with the trident and shared the planned appearance of the monument after the completion of the work.

On Sunday, July 30, the removal of the emblem from the Motherland monument began in Kyiv.

Additionally, it was revealed that the National Museum of Ukrainian History in World War II intends to rename the monument to "Ukraine-Mother."
