Kyiv mayor: This was one of the biggest attacks on Kyiv in recent times

The mayor of the capital, Vitali Klitschko, in a comment to RBC-Ukraine, stated that the night's combined attack by Russia on Kyiv became one of the biggest for the city in recent times.
"This was one of the biggest attacks on Kyiv in recent times. Our air defense forces report more than 500 drones shot down. Dozens of missiles were directed at our city. We thank air defense, but despite modern air defense means of protection, we see that there are no guarantees of full protection," Klitschko noted.
As noted by the city head, some of the missiles and kamikaze drones hit residential buildings in Kyiv.
"It is difficult to explain the goal of the enemy to destroy a peaceful city—one explanation – to spread depression among Ukrainians, to break the will to fight. I do not see another explanation," Klitschko emphasized.
He reported that work is currently being carried out to mitigate the consequences of the terrible night.
"More than 100 buildings were destroyed. We are now talking about dozens of dead and dozens of wounded. And, unfortunately, this number is increasing," Klitschko added.
What is known about the night attack on Kyiv
Today at night, the enemy inflicted a combined strike on the capital. The troops of the Russian Federation used cruise missiles, ballistic, Kinzhal, and Shaheds for the attack.
Destruction and damage are recorded in almost all districts of the city. Residential buildings, office buildings, educational institutions, cars, and a shopping center were damaged.
In the Darnytskyi district, the destruction is the strongest. As a result of the missile strike, the entrance of a five-story residential building was destroyed. From under the rubble, rescuers pulled out six people, among them a child.
In total, in Kyiv, it is known that about 13 people have died. Among them are three children – 2, 14, and 17 years old. Dozens of people were injured.
Other regions were also under attack. In particular, in the Vinnytsia region, Russian drones attacked Koziatyn. Due to the attack on the railway, several trains were delayed. Also, as a result of the strike on critical infrastructure, thousands of consumers in the region were left without electricity.
