Ukrainian World Heritage site St. Sophia Cathedral in Kyiv damaged during massive drone attack

On the night of June 10, during the Russian one of the most massive drone attacks on Kyiv, the St. Sophia Cathedral was damaged. The blast wave destroyed the cornice on the main apse of the monument, reports the Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine, Mykola Tochytskyi.

"This night, the enemy once again struck at the very heart of our identity. The St. Sophia Cathedral in Kyiv was damaged - a shrine that has survived centuries and symbolizes the birth of our statehood," Tochytskyi said.
According to him, the blast wave destroyed the cornice on the main apse of the 11th-century monument.
Odesa Film Studio
Also, as the minister said, the Odesa Film Studio was damaged at night. As a result of the attack, the following were damaged:
- pavilions;
- warehouses;
- scenery;
- vehicles.
"The sets for the film 'Dovzhenko' - a national project about the most famous Ukrainian director - have been completely destroyed. Russia is not only at war with our cities - it is waging a war against our culture, memory, and future.
Russian assault on Ukraine
On the night of June 9-10, Russians carried out a massive attack on Ukraine, using 322 air targets. Among them were 315 Shahed-type strike drones and simulator drones, as well as 2 KN-23 ballistic missiles and 5 Iskander-K cruise missiles.
As of 9:00 AM Kyiv time, the Air Forces had destroyed 284 enemy targets. According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, today's attack was one of the largest attacks on the capital in the entire time.
