Ukraine and the United States have agreed on an important military document outlining future support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Andrii Hnatov, announced after meetings with European partners in Kyiv.
According to him, the document was developed as part of bilateral cooperation at the level of the general staffs of Ukraine and the United States. It consists of four sections and four annexes.
The document lays out in detail the mechanisms for supporting Ukraine and its Armed Forces, including issues related to supply, recovery, and modernization of the Ukrainian army.
Particular attention is paid to monitoring compliance with the agreements and to the actions to be taken by the parties in the event of violations.
“These are bilateral agreements. The same work is currently underway with other partner countries, and one of the sections of the document concerns the activities of the ‘Coalition of the Willing,’” he noted.
Meeting of advisers from the US and Europe
At the end of the year, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine was preparing an adviser-level meeting with the United States and European countries, which could take place as early as January. According to the president, preparations began after his conversation with US President Donald Trump and consultations with French President Emmanuel Macron and other international partners.
In addition, a meeting of leaders of the so-called Coalition of the Willing is scheduled to take place in France on January 6, during which the parties are expected to coordinate their contributions to the system of security guarantees for Ukraine.
Meanwhile, national security advisers from European countries arrived in Kyiv today. According to Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov, the first stage of the talks focuses on discussing framework documents, including security guarantees for Ukraine, approaches to shaping a peace plan, and coordination of further joint steps with partners.
He emphasized that the work aims to develop realistic solutions grounded in shared responsibility between Ukraine and its European allies.
It is also worth noting that in several days, on January 6, a meeting of leaders of the “Coalition of the Willing” will take place in France, where participating countries are expected to agree on their contributions to security guarantees for Ukraine.
