Kuwait said on the evening of April 9 that it was repelling attacks by "hostile drones." The statement came amid a ceasefire between Iran and the United States announced on April 8, according to the Times of Kuwait.

In particular, Kuwait’s Ministry of Defense confirmed that air defenses were "responding to hostile drones" that had entered the country’s airspace.

Details remain unclear for now, although a ministry spokesperson said the drone attacks targeted "some vital facilities." The ownership of the “hostile drones” mentioned in the statement has not been specified.

Kuwait’s armed forces continue to maintain a high level of readiness in case of further attacks, the ministry said in earlier statements. Overall, since the start of operations against Iran, 793 Iranian missiles and drones have been intercepted over Kuwait.

On the night of April 8, the United States decided to postpone strikes on Iran and agreed to a two-week ceasefire. One of the conditions was that Iran would temporarily reopen the Strait of Hormuz to shipping.

However, despite the agreements, Iran struck US allies within hours of the ceasefire announcement. On the evening of April 8, the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia reported attacks on their territories.
