Kursk operation positively impacts situation in Ukraine's Sumy region
After the start of the Kursk operation, the number of Russian attacks on the Sumy region with artillery systems and small arms decreased, according to Volodymyr Artiukh, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration.
Thanks to the Ukrainian Armed Forces' operation in the Kursk region, it is now possible to restore the facilities and utilities, including energy, located near the border with Russia.
"The services are now working every day to restore the water, gas, and electricity supply. Earlier, when Russians were firing from artillery systems and small arms, we could not carry out such work," notes Artiukh.
Ukrainian Armed Forces' operation in Kursk region
The Ukrainian military has been conducting an operation in the Kursk region for more than two weeks. The Ukrainian Armed Forces broke through the border and took control of many settlements in the Russian region.
The purpose of the operation is to protect residents of Ukraine's border regions from Russian shelling and to create a buffer zone.
Today, August 22, Ukrainian soldiers took control of another settlement in the Kursk region. This brings the total number of such settlements to over 90.
As President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted, Ukrainian soldiers are not only restoring justice in the Kursk region but also achieving effective results.
