Zelenskyy on Ukraine's operation in Kursk region: It's not only fair but also effective
Ukrainian troops in the Kursk region operation not only restore justice but also achieve effective results, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's speech at the Veterans Forum.
The President reminded that he had just returned to Kyiv from the Sumy region, which borders Russia, where Ukrainian units are responding "extremely effectively" to enemy incursions. They are bringing the war back to the Russians' doorstep.
"And this is absolutely fair. But besides fairness, it is also very effective. We all must understand: to drive the occupier out of our land, we must create as many problems for the Russian state on its own territory as possible. And this heroic work is becoming increasingly precise, more long-range, and more effective," the President noted.
He emphasized that Ukrainian operations in the Donetsk, Kharkiv, and Kherson regions, the liberation of the Black Sea from the Russian fleet, the operation in the Kursk region, and almost daily strikes on Russian military targets are "a systematic way to protect Ukraine, a way to end this war on the terms of an independent Ukraine."
Operation in the Kursk region
Over two weeks ago, Ukrainian forces unexpectedly launched an operation in the Kursk region. They caught the Russians by surprise—the border area was not fortified by experienced troops; instead, it even housed conscripts.
As noted by Mykhailo Podolyak, advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Ukrainian soldiers aim to push the enemy back to prevent them from attacking the border areas of the Sumy region.
Ukrainian forces continue to make progress in the Kursk region. Specifically, on August 22, it became known that they had taken control of another settlement in the region. The total number of such settlements has exceeded 90.
