The Ukrainian Armed Forces' operation in the Kursk region makes calls for a ceasefire impossible, states Mykhailo Podolyak, advisor to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.

In his opinion, discussions about an immediate ceasefire now take on a different meaning, as this would imply that the Ukrainian Armed Forces would remain in the Kursk region.

"This means that everyone would have to be frozen in place. In other words, Russia would have to freeze its occupying forces on Ukrainian territory... because then the Kursk region would be under Ukraine's control. Therefore, it is now impossible to talk about an immediate ceasefire," Podolyak believes.

Ukrainian Army's offensive in Kursk region

At the beginning of last week, the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched an offensive in Russia's Kursk region. Yesterday, Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi reported that Ukrainian troops have taken control of an area covering 40 square kilometers.

Today, it was revealed that the Ukrainian forces have completely cleared the city of Sudzha of Russian troops.

According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukrainian forces are achieving their strategic objectives in the Kursk region.
