Kursk fighting gave Ukraine largest exchange fund boost in single operation - Zelenskyy
The Kursk operation provided Ukraine with the largest replenishment of the exchange fund in a single combat operation. It also drew strong Russian units into Russian territory, states the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during the awarding of Ukrainian soldiers.
"The Kursk operation provided Ukraine with the largest replenishment of the exchange fund in a single combat operation. And even after Putin involved North Korea in the war in Europe, our guys are holding their positions and realizing our Ukrainian national interests," said Zelenskyy.
Otherwise, according to the president, these 60,000 troops would have been engaged in battles against Ukrainian soldiers in the most difficult directions of the front.
Kursk operation
In the summer of 2024, Ukrainian defenders managed to break through the border and enter the territory of the Kursk region.
Russian troops succeeded in recapturing part of their territory, but the Ukrainian army continues to maintain control over dozens of settlements in the region, including the city of Sudzha.
To expel the Ukrainian forces, the Russian forces even involved North Korean soldiers in the fighting, who have suffered huge losses there.
Additionally, the Ukrainian Armed Forces managed to capture two North Korean soldiers.
According to the General Staff, over the six months of the Kursk operation, Russia has already lost 40,000 soldiers. The losses of North Korean troops amount to 4,000 personnel.
