Kremlin says Russia remains open to negotiations with Ukraine and US

Russia is open to resuming negotiations with Ukraine and expects to hold a trilateral meeting involving the United States, states Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, according to Izvestia.
Moscow claims to be counting on continuing the dialogue in a trilateral format "in the near future."
"We remain open to negotiations. We hope that, as we agreed with the American negotiators, we will be able to meet again in a trilateral format in the near future and continue the dialogue," Peskov said.
At the same time, the Russian leader's spokesperson noted that it is difficult to predict how productive such a potential meeting would be. The Kremlin representative justified this by claiming that Ukraine's situation on the front is deteriorating every day.
In addition, Peskov stressed that Moscow's demands remain unchanged. According to him, the so-called "root causes" of Russia's invasion must be eliminated for dialogue to take place.
On September 10, Peskov said that Russia was not considering the possibility of an "energy ceasefire" in the war against Ukraine. At the same time, he cynically called Ukraine's energy infrastructure its weak spot.
Meanwhile, Peskov claimed that Russia was allegedly ready for a peaceful settlement of the war. The Kremlin emphasized that further progress in the negotiations would depend on Kyiv's position.
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that the Kremlin had also made a new statement on peace talks following visits by US representatives to Moscow and Kyiv.
In particular, Peskov did not rule out the possibility of resuming the trilateral format of negotiations on ending the war in Ukraine.
