Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy "at any moment," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, TASS reports.
According to him, the president is ready to meet with Zelenskyy for negotiations in Moscow at any moment. Peskov added that a meeting between Putin and the President of Ukraine outside the capital makes sense only to finalize the process of ending the war, and that work on this still needs to be done.
Putin's press secretary also stated that the so-called SMO would stop at any moment "as soon as the necessary decisions, which are well known, are made in Kyiv."
Peskov emphasized that the developments regarding Ukraine give grounds to speak about a settlement approaching, but at the same time noted that it is too early to talk about specific details.
Recently, the Russian president stated his readiness to hold a meeting with Volodymyr Zelenskyy not only in Moscow, but also on the territory of a third country. He named the signing of a final agreement as the main condition.
On Saturday, May 9, during his speech at the parade in Moscow, Putin made several statements regarding the war in Ukraine. He stressed that the Russian-Ukrainian war was allegedly approaching its end.
At the same time, Volodymyr Zelenskyy is convinced that someone pushed Putin toward negotiations. He noted that Ukraine pushed the president a little, and that Kyiv has long been ready for meetings — it is necessary to find a format.
Western media previously wrote that Putin is allegedly convinced of victory on the battlefield and is ready to continue fighting for up to two more years for full control over the Donetsk region.
