Kremlin says Putin and Trump to meet in coming days, venue reportedly agreed

A meeting between Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump could take place as early as next week, although preparations for the talks are still underway, says Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov.
According to Ushakov, next week has been tentatively set as the timeframe for the Trump-Putin meeting. However, he noted that it’s still difficult to say exactly how many days the preparations will take.
He added that the venue of the meeting has already been agreed upon by the Russian side but will be announced later.
Trump's meetings with Zelenskyy and Putin
On Wednesday, August 6, US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff arrived in Russia and held talks with Putin. That visit has sparked renewed speculation about potential high-level negotiations between the US and Russian leaders.
Following the Moscow meeting, media outlets reported that Putin had allegedly suggested to Trump the idea of holding talks “at some point.”
The White House confirmed that Trump accepted the proposal and expressed readiness to meet with the Russian president as early as next week.
Furthermore, The New York Times reported that Trump intends to organize a trilateral meeting involving himself, Putin, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. According to journalists, Trump has already informed several European leaders about this plan.
Meanwhile, the US State Department emphasized that any talks between Trump and Putin would depend on progress toward ending the war in Ukraine — a position reiterated by Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Also on August 6, President Trump held a phone conversation with Ukrainian President Zelenskyy. According to Zelenskyy, some European leaders also joined the discussion.
Notably, on August 7, it was revealed that Trump had instructed his team to swiftly begin preparations for the meetings with Putin and Zelenskyy to bring the proposed summit to life as soon as possible.
