Putin's spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, comments on US President Donald Trump's statement regarding an alleged agreement reached between Ukraine and Russia on an energy truce. The Kremlin states that talks are ongoing.

Peskov is asked to comment on Trump's statement that Russia and Ukraine allegedly reached an agreement on an energy truce.

"Discussions are ongoing. As soon as we have any new information on this matter, we will be sure to inform you," the Kremlin spokesperson replies.

At the same time, Peskov does not provide any details regarding these discussions and does not specify whether the parties had agreed on specific terms for ceasing attacks on energy facilities.

Background

On October 11, US President Donald Trump announced the start of an energy truce between Ukraine and Russia, stating that both sides had agreed to halt attacks on energy infrastructure.

However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Kyiv had not negotiated such an agreement with Moscow but was ready to support it if Russia agreed to cease the attacks.

Subsequently, the White House clarified that the initial agreement concerned a cessation of attacks on oil refineries, followed by power plants and power grids.
