Kremlin responds to Trump claim Putin let him down

Moscow believes that US President Donald Trump, "in an emotional way," accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of letting him down, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, TASS reports.
Peskov was asked how Putin reacted to Trump's accusations.
In response, the Kremlin spokesman said that the US and President Trump "retain the political will and intentions to continue making efforts" to promote a settlement of Russia's war against Ukraine.
"Therefore, of course, President Trump is quite emotional, so to speak, about this topic. This is absolutely understandable," he added.
Peskov also stated that Putin "remains ready to resolve the situation through political and diplomatic means." The Kremlin spokesman accused Ukraine and European countries of "doing everything possible to continue along the path of confrontation."
What Trump said
During a visit to London, US President Donald Trump admitted that Russian President Vladimir Putin had let him down. This referred to the fact that it was not possible to settle Russia's war against Ukraine.
According to the American leader, he thought that ending Russia's war against Ukraine would be the "easiest" thing. But this did not happen.
Previously, the American leader had already said several times that Putin had disappointed him.
