Russia wants to end the war in Ukraine as quickly as possible, but at the same time, it is important to achieve the goals and objectives set at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, states the press secretary of the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov, according to TASS.

"Russia would like to end the conflict in Ukraine as quickly as possible, but it is important to achieve the originally set objectives," said the press secretary of the Russian President, Vladimir Putin.

At the same time, he also noted that Russia continues to remain open to a political-diplomatic path to resolve the situation in Ukraine, which he called the preferred option.

He claimed that negotiations over Ukraine have stalled, supposedly not due to Russia’s fault.

"The Europeans are stirring up Kyiv, convincing them that Ukraine can win by military means," Peskov said cynically.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Russia could supposedly make compromises to end the war against Ukraine. However, Moscow demands that its interests be taken into account for this to happen.

The Foreign Minister also claimed that the administration of US President Donald Trump supposedly understands the problems related to NATO. Lavrov further suggested that Washington realizes that the so-called "referendums" in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine "cannot be ignored."

Previously, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) analyzed Lavrov’s statements regarding the possibility of ending the war against Ukraine.

Lavrov claimed that Russia is committed to its demands for peace and accused Ukraine of holding back progress in peace negotiations.

The Institute for the Study of War noted that such statements indicate that Moscow would only consider compromises in the event of Ukraine’s capitulation.
