Russia supposedly ready to compromise for peace with Ukraine, but on one condition

Russia could allegedly be willing to make compromises to end the war against Ukraine. However, Moscow insists that its interests be taken into account, states Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, according to Interfax.
"We understand — and President Putin (the Russian President Vladimir Putin — ed.) has said this repeatedly — that, in the end, lasting agreements are always a compromise. And we are ready to seek them provided that our legitimate security interests, as well as the legitimate interests of 'Russian people in Ukraine,' are guaranteed in the same way that the legitimate interests of other participants in such an agreement are guaranteed,” Lavrov said.
The minister of the aggressor country claimed that the administration of US President Donald Trump allegedly understands the issues related to NATO. Lavrov also speculated that Washington is aware that the so-called "referendums" in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine "cannot be ignored."
"And in any agreement, the results of these referendums must necessarily be taken into account. How exactly — immediately or in stages — is another matter. They have essentially acknowledged our approaches and are working on this basis," he added.
Russia wants Ukraine’s capitulation
Earlier, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) analyzed Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s statement regarding the possibility of ending the war against Ukraine.
Lavrov claimed that Russia is committed to its demands for peace and also accused Ukraine of holding back progress in the peace negotiations.
The ISW noted that such statements indicate that Moscow would only be willing to make compromises if Ukraine capitulates.
