In a conversation with Russian propagandist Pavel Zarubin, Peskov claimed that Moscow believes Donald Trump is "sincerely committed" to ending the war and that the Kremlin is ready to wait for new ideas from Washington.

At the same time, Russia plans to continue fighting until "complete victory," despite the fact that the United States continues to supply weapons to Ukraine.

"Yes, (military action) is not a desirable course, but given the lack of prospects for peace, we will see it through to the end, to complete victory. However, we will wait for new (US) proposals," Peskov said.

Who does the Kremlin blame for stalled peace talks

Peskov's key claim was that Moscow had accepted US proposals, while Ukraine had allegedly rejected them.

According to this narrative, Kyiv and its European partners — rather than Russia — are to blame for the stalled peace process.

"The Americans — President Trump and his negotiators — sincerely seek to formulate options that are acceptable to everyone. We accepted the option they proposed, but the Ukrainians rejected it," the Kremlin spokesperson said.

According to him, "the Americans were unable to convince the Ukrainians... who were being encouraged by the Europeans."

The most recent trilateral peace talks involving Ukraine, the United States, and Russia took place in February 2026.

Earlier, it was reported that three rounds of trilateral talks involving Ukraine, the US, and Russia had taken place since the beginning of 2026.
